ROBERT WINFIELD TIMMONS
Robert Winfield Timmons was born on October 30, 1927 in Carrollton, Missouri to Scott R. Timmons and Adaline Morris Timmons. He passed away on July 17, 2024 at the age of 96.
Robert’s family moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1935 where he lived until graduating from high school in 1945.
Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946 for two years. During his tour of duty, he was sent on Admiral Richard E. Byrd’s “Operation Highjump” to Antarctica as a Naval correspondent. He was discharged in 1948 with a rating Journalist 3rd Class.
Robert enrolled at Baylor University in 1948 and graduated in 1951 with a BBA degree with a major in Accounting.
After earning his CPA certificate, Robert practiced in both public and corporate accounting until his retirement in 1994.
Robert enjoyed all sports, participating when young and as a spectator in later years.
Robert’s Great-Great Grandfather, Thomas Reynolds, was Governor of Missouri in the 1840’s.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 48½ years, Florence, and his son, James E. Timmons of Fort Worth, TX. He is survived by 3 children: Karen A. Hall, Waco, TX, Jean M. Bliss, Loganville, GA and Linda G. Timmons, Austin, TX, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by three step-children: Ann Pollman, Perry, OK, Iretta Reed of Seattle, WA, and Sue Rizzuti, Kansas, MO.
Graveside memorial services for Robert will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Homestead Cemetery in Okeene, with Pastor Jeremy Parker officiating and Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene handling arrangements.
