MARY EVELYN LORENZ

 

Mary Evelyn Lorenz was born on March 24, 1928, in Okeene, Oklahoma to Frank and Rose (Morkes) Kubat and passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 96.

 

Mary attended rural schools, St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Okeene High School in 1946.  After high school graduation she attended Hills Business University in Oklahoma City, also becoming a secretary at the Hay Fever and Asthma Clinic in Oklahoma City. 

 

On July 30, 1947, she married Verne L. Lorenz in St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Okeene. To this unition five children were born: four sons and one daughter.  Mary was a Stanley Home Products dealer for 43 years. She also sold Tiara Exclusives, Sara Coventry and Avon.  Mary was a nurse’s aide at Okeene hospital for many years and owned and operated her own antiques store; Okeene’s Proud Past Antiques for 9 years. She was a den scout mother, officer in the Jaycee Janes, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, past president of St. Anthony’s Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Okeene Red Hat Society. At St. Anthony’s she was Eucharistic Minister, lector, choir member and teacher. She was nominated as Woman of Achievement in the Altar Society in April 2005. 

 

Mary was a devoted wife and mother. Her joy was with her children, grandchildren and loved being with her family. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Verne,  two sisters, three brothers and one son; Gary. 

 

Mary is survived by:

 

Three sons………………….Greg Lorenz of Okeene, OK

………………………………...Freddie Lorenz and wife Kathy of Okeene, OK

……………………………..….Mark Lorenz and wife Patricia of Yukon, OK

 

One daughter………………Linda Marie Lorenz of Okeene, OK

 

Six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends. 

 

Rosary services for Mary will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 6:00 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 19, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Okeene with burial following in the Calvary Cemetery in Okeene.  Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene in charge of arrangements.
