Leland Elmer Fisher

Leland Fisher was born May 15, 1936, on the homestead in Loyal, in his grandmother’s home, to Elmer and Berniece (Vilhauer) Fisher, and passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the age of 88.


He was a resident of the Okeene community for most of his life, where he was supervisor for Amoco Production for 29.5 years. He attended Okeene schools and graduated from Okeene high school in 1954. He attended college at OU and OSU. He was a member of the First Baptists church in Okeene, as well as the Okeene Quarterback Club, and was a former member of the Jaycees. He coached peewee football in the late 60’s and early 70’s and refereed  football and basketball for many years.


He was married to Carol Ann Wilson at Okeene, in the First Baptist Church, on May 11, 1957; this was the first marriage in the new church.


He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Harlan Fisher, three sisters-in-law, Wanda, Marilyn, and Linda, and one brother-in-law, Roger Wilson.


He is survived by:

Three sons…………………….. Rick Fisher and wife Dorothy, of Okeene, OK.

                                               Tim Fisher and wife Valinda, of Thomas, OK.

                                                 Micky Fisher and wife Carla, of Okeene, OK.

Four brothers………………… Doug Fisher of Purcell, OK.

                                                Larry Fisher of El Reno, OK.

                                                Sheldon Fisher of Woodstock, GA.

                                               Adolf Fisher of Oklahoma City, OK.

One sister……………………… Sharon Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK.


As well as fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Leland Fisher will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Okeene, with Rev. Gaylon Cox officiating. The burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, with Wilkinson Mortuary handling the arrangements.
