In Memory of Joan Heiner

Joan Cranfill Heiner was born on March 8, 1955, in Watonga, OK, to O.V. and Wanda Williams Cranfill. She passed away on June 6, 2022, at Kingfisher Mercy Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Joan grew up in Greenfield, OK. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church there. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1973. Joan attended S.W.O.S.U. in Weatherford, OK, earning her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. Joan moved to Okarche Oklahoma in 1977, where she taught English and Spanish at Okarche High School until her retirement in 2015.

On February 14, 1987, Joan married the love of her life, Stormy Heiner, at the First Baptist Church in Okarche. They were married for 35 years.

Joan and Stormy enjoyed golfing and traveling. She loved going to California to see the kids and grandkids. Joan also loved teaching.

Survivors include her husband, Stormy Heiner of Okarche; stepdaughters, Crystal Whisler of Rancho Santa Margarita, California and Heather Hathaway and husband David; grandsons, Hudson and Narendra Hathaway all of Mission Viejo, California; mother-in-law, Chris Heiner of Oklahoma City; sisters, Glenda DeSpain of Watonga, her twin sister, Jean Kamphaus and husband Chris of Elk City; brother-in-law, Larry Heiner and wife Carol of Sullivan, Missouri, and sister-in-law, Linda Fitzgerald of Surfside, Texas; Nieces and nephews, Stephanie Marsh, Jamie Forester, Jessica Kamphaus, Jill Drinnon, Derek Babb, Christopher Fitzgerald, Melisa Fitzgerald, Berri Stroup, Dana Tyree, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Stormy Heiner, Sr; sisters, Norma McLean and Carol Goodin; nephews Kyle Mefford and Christopher Kamphaus.

A celebration of life will be held June 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Okarche, Oklahoma with James Inman officiating.
