In Memory of Gale Andrew Walker

Gale Andrew Walker was born on June 30, 1946, on the farm in Oakwood, OK to William Andy Walker and Lula May (Rhodes) Walker. Gale left this life for his heavenly home on August 14th, 2021. He was one of seven children born into the Walker family. Gale attended school in Oakwood and graduated in 1964. After high school he attended school in Okmulgee. On April 18, 1981, Gale married Nancy Williams from Sharon Springs, Kansas in Las Vegas. Gale and his wife made their home in Fay before moving to Watonga in 2013. The couple had 5 children between them.

At the ripe age of 14, Gale bought his first combine and started custom cutting around his home. He had to take a break from farming when he was drafted into the Army. He served his country from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Baumholder, Germany. After his service in the Army, he returned to Oklahoma and continued his custom cutting operation. Walker Custom Harvesting was a family affair. Gale and his brother Spud along with a few uncles cut many acres of crops from Texas to North Dakota over the last 61 years. Gale provided many countless memories for his family and lifelong friends. He lived each day with the mission that “You don’t quit when you are tired, you quit when you are done”. Despite all the challenges that a career in custom harvesting presents, Gale loved what he did and dedicated his life to serving others. He embraced his failing health just as he did his life, fiercely and doing whatever he could to make someone else’s life easier.

Gale is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, daughters Cristy Brewster and husband Robert of Mustang; Jennifer Pickens and husband Timothy of Gould, AR; sons Mike Whisler and Regina of El Reno; William “Billy” Walker and wife Miranda of Roscoe, NE; Clint Walker and wife Rebecca of Ogallala, NE. Gale had 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who he loved dearly; brother, Clyde “Spud” Walker of Eagle City; two sisters, Ann Griffith and husband Ted of Davenport, FL; Connie Richardson and husband Mike of San Angelo, TX; sister-in-laws, Barbara Walker of Thomas; Iva Nell Walker of Kingfisher; brother-in-law Tom Crelly of Eagle City; many nieces and nephews that he loved like his own.
