Geraldine Marguariett Kubat
Geraldine Marguariett Kubat, known by her friends as Jerry, was born in Enid, Oklahoma on June 20, 1929, to Claude and Lillie (Lehr) Price. She passed from this life on October 27, 2024.
Jerry attended Primary School at Wildcat Country School in the Cantonment area, west of Canton, Oklahoma, where she and her family were living during the early part of her life. Later, they moved to Southard, Oklahoma, where she completed her schooling and graduated in 1948. After high school, she was a secretary for USG in Southard and continued living in the small community along with her parents and three sisters, until she married. She had a memorable life growing up in the company town of Southard, and in 1949, she married the love of her life, George Kubat of Okeene. They married in the Saint Anthony’s Catholic Parsonage in Okeene, and their honeymoon was a road trip down Route 66 to California.
Jerry and George began their life on a farm northeast of Okeene where they farmed and spent the first ten years of their life together. They had four children, and she was a devoted wife and mother. In 1959, the family moved into town where they raised their family and lived in Okeene until their final years when they resided in a care facility.
Along with being a housewife, Jerry worked intermittently at different positions in Okeene including, sales at Siemen Drug, the Abbey, the Dry Cleaners, and secretarial positions at the Sooner Co-op, the Tag Agency, and the Okeene Hospital, but her heart was happiest when she was working in her home and caring for her family and extended family. Along with farming, for a time, she and George were business owners of a fast-food diner called The Dairy Boy in Canton, a trucking business, and an automatic laundry. She had a talent for sewing and decorating and was known for painting everything in her home the color white. After retirement, she and George enjoyed following their grandchildren’s activities, traveling, camping in their fifth-wheel trailer, and gardening. They took their grandchildren on several memorable camping trips. She enjoyed two trips to Europe and vacationed throughout North America, as far as Nova Scotia, and west to California.
She was a member of the Okeene Child Study Club and for many years, she and George held weekly Bible studies in their home. She was a member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene, but she also enjoyed visiting multiple Christian denominations, and was active in various prayer groups with her friends. She was a devoted Christian, and her family will always remember her as their Prayer Warrior, as she prayer all of them through many concerns and crices.
She is survived by her children: Kathy, and husband Ronnie Sproul; Jane, and husband Jimmy Weichel; Kevin, and wife Dana Kubat; and Kimmie, and husband Glenn Jones. She has nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, and one sister, Connie, and brother-in-law, Chuck London.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Duane Price, two sisters, Elaine Heffel and Wilma Bojarski, and her beloved husband George William Kubat.
Rosary will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene.
The Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, with celebrants Father Jarek Topolewski and Father Peter Jandaczek. Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene will be handling arrangements.
I'm very sorry for the family's loss. Jerry and George were neighbors to my Grandparents. As children, we grew running the streets of the neighborhood. Jerry would always have baked goods or lemonade for us. Even in my adult years, she would always recognize me and give me a hug. She was a beautiful soul and I always enjoyed seeing her. My prayers are with the Kubat family.

Oh my, I’m so sorry to hear this. I loved Jerry. I got to know her and Kevin and Kimmie when they owned the Dairy Boy in Canton. I never forgot her and she never forgot me. I got a big hug every time I saw her, she was a wonderful person. My prayers are with the family. God Bless all.
