Darlene I. Thomas

Darlene I. Thomas was born January 8, 1926, at Oakwood, Oklahoma, to Clinton and Edith Beatey, and passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the age of 97.

Darlene was a resident of the Okeene community for 20 years, and the Watonga community for 15 years. She was a nurse at the Okeene Hospital for about 30 years, helping many of those in the community with her skill and compassion. She married John Thomas at Watonga, Oklahoma, in 1969. Together they loved to camp and fish, as well as sitting around watching movies or television, just enjoying each other’s company. They both also enjoyed going out on Friday and Saturdays to listen to country/western music and dance.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Edith Beatey; her husband, John Thomas; her three brothers, J.C. Beatey, James Elmore Beatey, and Eddie Beatey, and her only sister, Mildred Snow.

She is survived by three nephews, Clint Beatey, Calvin Beatey, and Wesley. Two nieces, Connie Hoover and Janie White, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Viewing for Darlene will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00p.m. at Wilkinson Mortuary in Watonga.

Graveside services for Darlene will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Homestead Cemetery in Okeene, Oklahoma, with Pastor Doug Jackson officiating and Wilkinson Mortuary handling the arrangements.
