Christine "Chris" Heiner
Christine "Chris" Heiner, 98, passed away on Friday, October 18th, 2024, at Integris Hospice in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stormy Heiner and her siblings Bill, Dee, and Joe.
She was born in Clarendon, Texas, to Saleta Beatrice Wilkerson and Jay D. Devenport. Chris was the valedictorian of her high school class and attended McPherson College for a year.
Chris met her husband through his mother working as a seamstress.
Over the course of her life, they lived in various parts of the United States and spent five years in South Africa during the 1970s, as well as time in Kuwait in the 1950s.
Though she worked briefly as an accountant, Chris was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed playing tennis, which she learned in South Africa, and was an active bridge player. Chris was dedicated to walking and exercising throughout her entire life and always had tons of energy and great health.
She was an excellent cook.
She is survived by her three children: Linda Fitzgerald of Sullivan, Missouri; Stormy Heiner of Okarche, Oklahoma; and Larry Heiner of Sullivan, Missouri.
Chris is also survived by her grandchildren: Chris Fitzgerald, Melissa Fitzgerald, Berri Stroup, Kerri Felton, Dana Tyree, Scott Heiner, Karen Heiner, Crystal Whisler, and Heather Hathaway, along with 13 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held in Edmond, Oklahoma where she will be buried beside her late husband, Stormy Heiner.
