Charleyne Aletha Meier

Charleyne Aletha Overacre Meier was born July 23, 1923, at Fairland, Oklahoma, to William Christopher Overacre and Ola Earnestine Jones Overacre, and passed away January 8, 2022, at the age of 98. She was a resident of the Hitchcock community for 82 years, where she was a homemaker and dairy farmer’s wife. Charleyne graduated from Hitchcock High School, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Cheyenne Quilt Guild, and the Home Demonstration Club. She was married to Harold David Meier at Fairland, Oklahoma on November 27, 1941. Some of Charleyne’s hobbies that you may have caught her doing included, sewing, quilting, ceramics, China painting, told painting, oil paintings, millinery, gardening, as well as knitting and crocheting.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Meier; her parents, William, and Ola Overacre; three sisters, Earnestine Harris of Fairland, OK, Ardyth Moran of Bartlesville, OK, Twilla Moore of Mara, MN; one brother, Keith Overacre of Fairland, OK; one son-in-law, Don Schneider of OKC.

She is survived by her dog, Bliss, of their home.

Two sons…………………………………… Charles Meier, of Clute, TX and Kenneth Meier, and wife, Patty, of Hitchcock, OK.

One daughter……………………………. Harolene Schneider of Oklahoma City, OK.

One brother-in-law…………….…….. Ellzy Moore of Minnesota.

One sister-in-law………………………. Betty Jane Teders of Kingfisher, OK.

Seven grandchildren…………………. Dawn Roy, and husband Rob, of Orlando, FL, Cherisse Verona, and husband Orton, of Tampa, FL, Tracie Popp, and husband Randall, of Bixby, OK, Chris Meier, and wife Amy, of Lake Jackson, TX, Jeffrey Meier of Lake Jackson, TX, Hallie Hendrix, and husband Jeremy, of Durant, OK, and Cody Meier, and wife Lisa, of Hitchcock, OK.

As well as thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and numerous other realtives and friends.

Graveside services for Charleyne Meier will be held, Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at Cottonwood Cemetery in Hitchcock, with Rodney Heinrich officiating and Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
