Alice grew up southeast of Watonga and attended Cordell, a one room school, through the eighth grade. She graduated from Watonga high school in 1944 as valedictorian of her class.

Soon after graduation she started work for Theodore Graalman in his abstract and attorney office. The business sold to H.G. Tolbert and she began working for him. In 1972, she was forced to take a year off because of illness. Afterwards, she worked for Ernie Hoberecht at Blaine County Abstract until she retired in 1991. In November of 2013, she moved to Countrywood Assisted Living in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

She became a Christian when she was a young girl, joining the Nazarene church at the same time as her parents and brother, Willis. She was a Sunday school secretary and served on the church board for a number of years and served her Lord in other capacities as long as health permitted.

She was a member of the Watonga Senior Citizens, and the Watonga Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as president for four years. She was also a member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, where she was named its “Pioneer Woman of the Year,” at their state convention in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ira, and brother Willis and wife, Georgia.

She is survived by six nieces: Mary B. May, Virginia (Butch) Edsall, and Sherrie (Roy) Plummer, all of Watonga, OK; Shanda (Troy) Bowers of Jones, OK; Teriesa (Mike) Tauber of Colwich, KS; and Denise (Ernie) Jacobs of Maize, KS; sister-in-law, Phena Hinkle of Watonga, OK; step-niece, Debbie Rice, and step-nephews, Robert and Phillip Harman; 15 great-nieces and nephews, 16 great-great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services for Alice will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Watonga Nazarene Church, with Pastors Jeff Liles and Jared Burch officiating. The burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with Wilkinson Mortuary handling the arrangements.
