Alma Lorene Rehlen was born September 2, 1931 at Eagle City, Oklahoma to Samuel and Mable (VanWinkle) Green and passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at the age of 88.
Alma grew up in the Eagle City-Watonga area. She married Fred Rehlen on September 11, 1948 at McCook, Nebraska. Shortly after her marriage to Fred they moved to Kansas in the late 1940’s then in 1976 to California. They moved back to Kansas in 1982, and from there returned to their home in Watonga during the early 90’s. Alma moved to Kansas to be closer to her daughter in 2017. Alma enjoyed giving her time as a volunteer for many organizations such as The Women’s Hospital Auxiliary, Opportunities Inc, OSU Extension Homemakers, the Ferguson Chapel Presbyterian Church and Alma was on the board at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. When Alma’s daughters joined Girl Scouts, Alma became a volunteer for the Girl Scouts of America. She remained a volunteer long after her girls were grown and was granted a lifetime membership to the Girl Scouts of America. Alma attended Watonga Schools and was also a member of the Watonga Christian Church.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred; one daughter Susan Buchman; three brother and six sisters.
Alma is survived by:
One daughter………..Anita Mills and husband Sam of Overland Park, Kansas
One brother………….Lewis Green and wife Mina of Watonga, Oklahoma
Six grandchildren…..Eric Mills, Jason Mills, April McCollum, Amanda Buchman, Emily Cardwell and Andrew Buchman.
11 great grandchildren as well as numerous other family and friends.
A private graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga with Rev. Adam Lovitt officiating. Arrangements by Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Watonga Christian Church.
